With Newquay more popular than ever, the demand for all types of accommodation is high. Last summer, the demand completely outstripped supply. On some days in August you couldn't book a hotel room nor find an Airbnb anywhere in Newquay.
All the signs are showing that this will happen again. The most common request we had via email and phone last summer was for recommendations for places to stay.
So here's our Places to Stay in Newquay guide to help you pick the right stay when you arrive for your surf lessons. Whether you've never been before or are a regular, we hope you'll find something for you.

The Watergate Bay, Porth and Mawgan Porth area
As you may know our surf school is based in the beautiful Watergate Bay, a 6 minute drive from Newquay Town Centre. It's widely considered one of most beautiful beaches in the UK. It's less populated than Newquay and the beach capacity is limited by the number of car park spaces.
So it gets very popular in the summer months with people wanting to surf away from the overcrowded Newquay Town beaches.
A lot of our customers like to stay as close to the school as possible, particularly those on our popular 3 and 5 Day Courses. Here's a selection of spots we recommend by distance from the school.
Hayloft
Very close to our surf school, a short two minute drive to be exact, this beautiful stone barn conversion is tucked away within the farmlands surrounding Watergate Bay in North Cornwall. Sleeping four guests, The Hayloft has been designed to perfectly compliment the surrounding landscape, with the traditional stone exterior giving way to a sleek and contemporary internal space.

Rockpools Watergate
Rockpool Holidays offer 3 homes at Watergate and one in Newquay. These aren’t your average holiday rental. With exceptional modern style, breathtaking views of Watergate Bay and en-suite in every room.
Rockpools offers a large living space, bbq area and hot tub for the ultimate relaxing stay. It's only a short walk from the surf school.

Beachcomber Apartments Watergate
Run by Jeff and the team at Porth Veor Manor, the Beachcomber apartments are hugely popular with our guests and perfectly situated just minutes walk form the surf school at Watergate. We highly recommend staying in these too.

The Bluehouse
The bluehouse is our surf schools plush recommendation for big groups or families. Its located just minutes from Watergate bay. Completely refurbished in 2019, bluehouse is a large luxury holiday home offering majestic sea views of the north cornish coastline . The spectacular residence is complete with 7 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, a large open plan kitchen, two lounges, cinema room, playroom, hot tub and beautiful garden. This family friendly property is a perfect home for your holiday.

Watergate Bay Hotel
Watergate Bay Hotel is nestled into the cliff with stunning views of the bay. The hotel features 3 restaurants, a 25 metre infinity pool, spa treatment rooms and is dog friendly. The hotel is only a short walk from the surf school. The Watergate Bay Hotel booked out fast last year.

Coastal Valley
Run by good friends of the surf school, Coastal Valley is a luxury camping and glamping site for families and couples. The eco-campsite is located in a beautiful valley and is known for it's chilled atmosphere.
Coastal Valley has some unique accommodation options from an Old Library Bus, to the BBQ Lodge, to the Wooden Pod and the large Safari Tent. Dogs are welcome and you can expect visits from local street food vendors.

Waves Apartments
Situated just above the Watergate Bay Hotel, the Waves apartments are very popular with our regular guests. They're only 150 metres to the beach with fantastic views with contemporary, spacious designs.

Penvose Farm Holidays
Penvose offers camping, static caravans and a choice of two converted barns for guests to stay in. The site is on a working farm and has 3 well stocked fishing lakes.

Tregurrian Camping and Caravan Club Site
Located in a cluster of sites that also includes Watergate Bay Touring Park, The View at Watergate Bay and Trevarrian Holiday Park. Tregurrian is popular with guests driving down to camp or in a motorhome with all the facilities you need at a great price.

Porth Veor Manor
Overlooking Porth Beach between Newquay Watergate sits Porth Veor Manor Hotel. Featuring terraced gardens, a conservatory and an outdoor heated pool. The hotel is a favourite of our guests and friends of the school. The hotel even has its own private path to Porth Beach.

7 Watergate View
Perched over the cliff just passed the far end of Watergate and overlooking Porth Beach, this private apartment has some breathtaking views. Managed by friends of the school, Aspect Holidays. They have similar unique self-catering holiday apartments and cottages all over North Cornwall.

Newquay Town Area
Newquay is may be a small town filled yet it's packed with character. There's something for everyone here. The town itself has no campsites but stays for every budget from hostels to hotels, to premium holiday apartments.
Lewinnick Lodge
At the far end of Newquay at Pentire, you'll find Lewinnick Lodge. Whilst almost any sea facing room in the area will have incredible views, the luxury rooms at Lewinnick Lodge are hard to beat. Placed on the cliff edge, you can take in stunning panorama views across Fistral Bay and out to the Atlantic Ocean.
A popular eating spot with an outdoor garden that gets very popular at sunset too.

Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa
Facing out over Fistral Beach, the hotel away from the crowds in the town centre yet still perfectly positioned for beach days and drinks in the Sun on the patio. The adult-only hotel is popular with couples and offers premium spa and gym facilities.
The Dune Restaurant offers local seafood, overlooking the Fistral and the Bay Bar opposite offers exceptional cocktails.

Breakers Guesthouse
If you're coming with friends, you'll find a number of hostels on this road overlooking the Golf Course. With 10 rooms, a licensed bar, a large communal room and patio to chill in.
Breakers is a great spot to come and stay with friends on a budget and meet other travellers.
