Scott And Babs
Scott and Babs is a hidden gem. They are located a short 10 min drive from our Newquay surf school. They have wood-fired food set-up at Retorrick Mill and they cook some of the tastiest food we have eaten over the years.
Set in a barn on a farm, it reminds us of an American country smokehouse. The smell as you walk through alone, is enough to get your appetite going. They mainly use barrel smokers, spit roasters, BBQ's and wood fired clay ovens. It's all very rustic, a bit ramshackle and definitely not fine dining but you go to eat for the quality of the food and they have never dissapointed. It's an experience you must have after your Newquay surf lesson.

Lewennick Lodge
As we said in our last blog post, these guys have recently upped their game on the quality of food and drinks (the belly pork is unreal). It's a clifftop destination with a contemporary restaurant and bar which has long been a favourite with locals and those in the know. The food is super tasty, and it has one of the best views looking right across the Newquay beaches. Perched on the cliff at Pentire Headland, there are lovely walks to Crantock or Fistral so you can walk off your meal with a smile. The vibe here is alway great, even on those rainy summer evenings where you want to cosy up by a fire.
A place to take your family for a higher end dinner after your surf lessons at our Newquay surf school.

Zacry's
We have eaten here a lot and Zacry's never dissappoints. They offer contemporary dining that changes with the seasons. They offer great meat and fish dishes and also have tasty veggie/vegan options made with the best seasonal Cornish produce. It is a fine dining experience that is perfect for a special night out whilst you're on holiday this 2021 season.
You will eat food to remember here. We once had a salmon starter at Zachary's and it still talk about it as some of the best food we have eaten. Only a stones throw away from our Newquay surf school, so a perfect place to book whilst you're down here.
The views are outrageous from the Watergate Bay hotel and the walks are breathtaking for after you have indulged.

Gilmores (Adam Banks chef)
Adam is a great chef and gave us some of our best food when eating out last year. He is now doing food at the mexican restaurant, Gilmores. This will be amazing this summer and we can't wait to try. He uses Cornish produce to create a range of flavours that will leave you sometimes speechless. It isn't a far drive to Gilmore's from our Newquay surf school and there are some lovely walks close by. Its about a 5 minute walk to Fistral beach. This place is going to be a hot spot this summer.
